Our Ideal Candidate:

FYBR is seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team. As a key team member, you will provide spatial products to clients to support operations. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with field personnel and other analysts to analyze geospatial data for forest areas and industrial sites, as well as monitoring inventory, forest conditions, and thermal hazards. Furthermore, the analyst will contribute to the development of our cutting-edge remote sensing applications.

Success in this position is demonstrated by technical competency in geospatial analysis and programming, the ability to deliver products on time and effective teamwork. 

This role typically follows regular business hours, but when we’re busy, we pull together and work hard to meet deadlines. We believe in balance, so we take time off to recharge when things calm down. Work remotely from anywhere in Canada with the option for hybrid work in our Kamloops, BC office.

A Day in the Life:

  • Generate high-resolution models and maps using drone imagery, ground-based LiDAR, and thermal sensors
  • Analyze geospatial data for forested areas and industrial sites to monitor inventory, forest conditions, thermal hazards, and site safety.
  • Produce high-quality and accurate geospatial outputs and measurements for clients via our browser-based FYBR Cloud platform.
  • Conduct thorough quality control on all data products
  • Create, develop and maintain databases
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve outputs and quality, seek opportunities to innovate, and contribute to our internal software development

What you bring to the team:

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in GIS (or demonstrable GIS proficiency)
  • Forestry or industrial sector experience is an asset, not a requirement

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with QGIS or ArcGIS
  • Skilled in R and/or Python
  • Capable of creating, organizing and manipulating vector, raster and point cloud data
  • Experienced with software like Pix4D and Agisoft, SQL/database capability, API experience
  • Aerial, drone and ground survey operation experience is an asset
  • Familiar with LiDAR analysis, high-resolution imagery analysis, and field survey tools
